(STATEHOUSE) - State Senator Mike Delph of Carmel filed an immigration bill aimed at punishing those who harbor, transport or employ illegal immigrants. It’s modeled after similar laws in four other states.
Delph says in his district, the concern over illegal immigration ranks second only to property taxes. The senator cited inaction on the federal level as the reason why Indiana needs the immigration law.
The bill goes before the senate committee on pensions and labor for public comment Wednesday morning at 9:00am.
