Senate Democrats Propose EZ Homestead Credit

(STATEHOUSE) - The Indiana Senate Democratic caucus is proposing a property tax relief model based on a homeowner’s ability to pay.

Under the EZ homestead credit proposal, a homeowner's net tax payment would be based on the assessed value of the property, the local tax rate and the owner's adjusted gross income.

Senate Democrats say the credit would address the unfunded losses projected under the governor's property tax relief plan.
