(UNDATED) - As the May primary election gets closer, Indiana is becoming more relevant in the presidential primary.

The Howey Report commissioned a small statewide poll of 500 likely voters. The results showed Democratic presidential nominee candidate Barack Obama with a 15 point lead over Hillary Clinton. 36% were undecided.

Republican John McCain has a 29 point lead over Mike Huckabee with 25% undecided.

The poll also looked at the gubernatorial race where Republican incumbent Governor Mitch Daniels has a 23 point lead over either Democrat Jill Long-Thompson or Jim Schellinger.

In the 7th congressional district special election on March 11th, the poll shows Democrat Andre Carson with an 18 point lead over Republican Jon Elrod.

Brian Howey of the Howey Report says additional polls will be released prior to the May primary and November elections.
