(INDIANAPOLIS) - Secretary of State Todd Rokita’s experiment of voting centers got its first step to a statewide rollout Tuesday night.
Senate Bill 235 passed, which would allow county election boards to shift their gears to this method by unanimous vote.
Republican State Senator Sue Landske of Cedar Lake, who was a sponsor of the bill, said the legislation allows counties to tailor the idea to their own needs.
Vote centers would allow voters to go to any polling place in the county, instead of their specific precinct.
The bill now moves on to the state House for voting.
