Smoking Ban Bill Quickly Snuffed Out
(STATEHOUSE) - The House bill banning smoking in certain public places was snuffed out in committee.
It would have placed a statewide ban on smoking in public places, enclosed areas in a place of employment and some state vehicles.
One of the bill's advocates, Danielle Patterson with the American Heart Association, says the house public policy committee hearing was disappointing.
Only two people were allowed to testify before the committee. The second person was cut off so the committee could adjourn on time.
Co-author, representative Charlie Brown, said he'll revive the smoking ban bill next year.
