(UNDATED) - The Lead Poisoning Prevention Act has been filed by a state senator.
Republican Beverly Gard of Greenfield says her proposal will confront the health threat in Hoosier homes. It also covers child care facilities.
Backers say lead poisoning is the leading preventable health risk among children. It takes only a sugar packet worth of lead dust in a room to hurt a child.
Senator Gard says the goal is to eliminate lead poisoning in children by 2010.
