Judge Picked For New Castle Mayor Challenge

Last updated on Tuesday, January 8, 2008

(ANDERSON) - A New Castle judge will oversee the legal challenge to the eligibility of Anderson Mayor Kris Ockomon.

Brent Dickson, acting chief justice for the Indiana Supreme Court, appointed Michael Peyton, Superior Court Judge in Henry County to take over the case in which a group of Anderson residents questioned Ockomon's qualifications to be mayor of the city, due to his residency.

The plaintiffs filed suit against Ockomon, calling for a temporary restraining order and a request for a permanent injunction to prevent Ockomon from being sworn in. The restraining order was denied.
