(STATEHOUSE) - In a surprise move, the powerful House Ways and Means Committee has cleared Governor Mitch Daniels property tax relief plan to the House floor.
The Governor made the unusual move of testifying before the committee just the day before. Speaker of the House Pat Bauer says this is a practical move for a complicated bill during a very short legislative session.
Ranking House Ways and Means Committee Member Representative Jeff Espich says he expects to nearly 60 amendments to the bill.
Both the House and Senate will resume their sessions next Tuesday following the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday on Monday.
