(INDIANAPOLIS) - More candidates are filing to run for the congressional seat left vacant by the death last month of Congresswoman Julia Carson.
There are now four candidates for the Democratic nomination, including Carson's grandson, Indianapolis City-County Councilman Andre Carson. The other candidates are former State Representative Carolene Mays, attorney Randle Pollard and Marion County Treasurer Michael Rodman. State Representative David Orentlicher is also raising money for a possible campaign.
Two Republicans have announced they will seek the seat: public policy adviser Tom Rose and State Representative Jon Elrod.
Democrats and Republicans will caucus this weekend to select their nominees for the special election, which is set for March 11th.
