Fort Wayne Smoking Ban Stays, For Now

(FORT WAYNE) - Hope was high after last fall’s elections for changing Fort Wayne’s strict smoking law. It prohibits smoking in most businesses, including bars and restaurants.
But now repealing or reducing the city's smoking ban seems far less likely. While one city council member promises to introduce changes, the majority of the council wants no part in letting smoking back into bars and restaurants or taking time discussing a proposal that is seemingly dead on arrival.
At least five of the nine council members said they don't support any substantive change to the ban and some said they would even support killing a bill before it could be discussed.
