Former Terre Haute Mayor Still Contending Election Result
(TERRE HAUTE) - The former mayor of Terre Haute is asking the Indiana Supreme Court to hear his appeal of a court ruling that allowed the new mayor to take office.
Republican Duke Bennett won the November election by 110 votes and took office January 1st.
But former Democratic Mayor Kevin Burke claims Bennett violated The Hatch Act, a federal law that limits the political activity of employees of some not-for-profits receiving federal money.
