Former Terre Haute Mayor Appeals Court Ruling

(TERRE HAUTE) - Former Terre Haute Mayor Kevin Burke will appeal a court ruling that allowed new mayor Duke Bennett to take office.
Burke's attorneys filed a notice that they would seek to have the case heard by the Indiana Court of Appeals. Bennett won the November election by 110 votes and took office on Tuesday.
A Vigo County judge ruled that he saw no evidence indicating that Bennett had "willfully flouted" The Hatch Act, a federal law that limits the political activity of employees of some not-for-profits receiving federal money.
