(UNDATED) - Different views of Indiana’s jobs record, from two of the three candidates in this year’s race for governor.

Indiana's unemployment rate is lower than any of its neighbors. And last August, the state had three-million people working, for the first time since reaching its all-time record seven years earlier.

But the state has shed nearly 16-thousand jobs since that high-water mark, and Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jill Long Thompson blames Governor Daniels for the losses.

Thompson accuses Daniels of neglecting the state's unemployment trust fund, which stands at 370 million, down two-thirds from three years ago. Daniels says that's because the state raised benefits a few years ago without raising the employer taxes that finance them. He says the fund is still fiscally sound.
