(ANDERSON) - A Madison County judge appealed to the state supreme court Wednesday to quickly appoint a special judge to resolve a dispute over the residency of Anderson’s new mayor.

His request states that all of Madison County's judges believe they have a conflict of interest in the case involving Kris Ockomon, a Democrat who took office Tuesday after defeating former Republican Mayor Kevin Smith in the November election.

Smith says he won't give up his claim to the mayor's office until a judge rules on the entirety of the lawsuit.
