(ROME CITY) - A judge has ordered a new election for the Rome city town council to be held Feb. 19.
Noble County Circuit Judge David Laur ruled that 78 eligible voters were left off the voter rolls and up to a dozen voters were turned away from the polls during the Nov. 6 election.
Noble County Clerk Candy Myers says she takes responsibility for the mistakes and is glad the voters will get a second chance.
Two Rome city council candidates, Democrats Lisa Slone and Mike Singh, contested the election. They were among five candidates seeking at-large seats in the town about 30 miles north of Fort Wayne.
