(MUNCIE) - A recount may reverse the result of Muncie’s mayoral election.
Democrat James Mansfield appeared to be the winner by 11 votes. But a three-member recount commission has thrown out an absentee vote for Mansfield because precinct officials from both parties didn't initial it as required by law.
There are at least 18 more Mansfield votes with the same problem awaiting rulings. That would be enough to wipe out Mansfield's lead and put Republican Sharon McShurley in front.
