(UNDATED) - Governor Mitch Daniels’ re-election bid is getting support from a number of Indiana labor union leaders.

They include the Sheet Metal Contractors Assn. of Central Indiana; International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 150, in Merrillville; the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local 135, and Joint Council 69; Indiana Regional Council of Carpenters; and a former national representative and regional political director for the AFL-CIO.

At a news conference in Downtown Indianapolis, the governor said the Major Moves project will bring record construction in Indiana each of the next few years.

Daniels said there'll be at least a billion dollars in construction, which is about twice the largest pre-major moves construction budget.

Asked about the recently- released Kernan-Shepard report on local government reform, the governor said it has done exactly what he hoped it would do.
