(JASPER) - Jasper Mayor Bill Schmitt says he will study all the government reform recommendations released this week by a blue ribbon commission before passing judgment.
The report contained 27 different recommendations, ranging from electing one county executive official, appointing a handful of other offices and eliminating many elected positions.
Schmitt does think the proposed change in the local election dates is an unwise move.
He says local candidates should be judged on local issues and the elections should be held separately.
