Former IU Professor Appointed To 7th Circuit Court

(UNDATED) - For the first time in 20 years, an Indiana resident has been appointed to the second highest court of the land.
57-year-old judge John Tinder was recently nominated by President Bush and confirmed by the U.S. House and Senate to serve on the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals.
Senator Evan Bayh supports the nomination, praising Tinder as "the embodiment of good judicial temperament, intellect and even-handedness."
The 7th Circuit, based in Chicago, is the last stop before the U.S. Supreme Court for cases from Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin.
Tinder has also served as a federal district court judge and U.S. Attorney for Indiana's Southern district.
Prior to the U.S. Attorney's job, the Indianapolis native was a public defender, state prosecutor and private practice attorney in Indianapolis. He also has taught trial advocacy at Indiana University School of Law.
