Tippecanoe County Poll Experiment Finds Bugs

Last updated on Wednesday, November 7, 2007

(LAFAYETTE) - There was a glitch at some Lafayette and West Lafayette voting centers, but the county clerk is still calling the experiment a success.

Lafayette, West Lafayette and Richmond junked traditional precincts for Tuesday's election in favor of a smaller number of vote centers. Registered voters can cast ballots at any of those locations, instead of having to go to their home precinct.

Several of Tippecanoe County's 22 vote centers opened 30-to-45 minutes Tuesday this morning. In at least one West Lafayette polling place, poll workers tried to log in using their codes from a test of the system, instead of the election day codes.
