(TERRE HAUTE) - Terre Haute Mayor Kevin Burke is officially challenging the November 6th election results.

A petition filed Monday questions whether mayor-elect Duke Bennett was qualified to be a candidate.

The petition references a federal law that limits political actions of certain government employees.

Burke is claiming the Hatch Act makes Bennett ineligible to have even run for the mayor's office, since the place that he works, the Hamilton Center receives federal funding. Hamilton Center receives federal funds for its early Head Start program.
