(MUNCIE) - There’s now an official winner in Muncie’s razor’s edge mayor’s race.

Democrat Jim Mansfield's nine-vote victory on election night increased to 11 with the addition of a handful of absentee and provisional ballots. Mansfield picked up six extra votes to four for Republican Sharon McShurley. Three absentee ballots were disallowed.

Mansfield's final margin of victory was eight-hundredths of a percent. McShurley has indicated she'll seek a recount. She has till Tuesday to do so, or the Delaware County Republican party could file instead. The deadline for the party is Friday.

Mansfield has been the head of the Muncie Visitors Bureau. He'll be the city's first Democratic mayor in 16 years.
