(COLUMBUS) - Ninth District Congressman Baron Hill says he’s not sure the US would respond if China invaded Taiwan.

Hill told a Columbus audience China owns about $900 billion in US Bonds, about 10% of the national debt.

He maintains that could keep the US from taking a strong stand against China. Mainland China regards Taiwan as a renegade province, not an independent nation.

Although some pundits and analysts say China calling in their American debt could be as damaging to them as it could be to America.
