(UNDATED) - State Senator Richard Young says he entered the governor’s race last December with every intention of winning.

But now the minority leader is removing himself from the ballot, saying he was running a campaign for second place.

Most political polls place Young ahead of Indianapolis architect Jim Schellinger, but former congresswoman Jill Long Thompson seems to be getting the strongest statewide support.

Young is not ready to offer an endorsement, but says his mission is to find a candidate who can beat current governor Mitch Daniels.
