Voting Machines Tested Before Election Day
(EVANSVILLE) - The Vanderburgh Election Board conducted a public test of six-voting machines at the election office Wednesday. It’s a requirement prior to the November 6th city election.
County Clerk Susie Kirk says it all went well with both the voting machines and tabulating equipment working perfectly. Kirk says all 550 voting machines will be tested before Election Day.
Kirk says absentee voting begins on Monday in the election office at the civic center and from October 15th through November 2nd, you can vote absentee on a machine at the North Park Library Branch.
Kirk says that's never been done before and it's an experiment this year. The U.S. Supreme Court has decided to consider the constitutionally of the voter ID law in Indiana and a few other states this term, but a ruling is not expected before this year's election.
Kirk says showing that ID is very important.
