(WASHINGTON) - Congressman Baron Hill is pleased a bill aimed to help college students pay for college, has been signed by President Bush.

Hill's statement says the College Cost Reduction Act of 2007 would help students by increasing Pell Grants by $500 to a maximum of $5,200 by 2011.

A number of other increases including student loan forgiveness for those entering public service careers are also included in the bill.

Hill says the one of the best parts about the legislation is that it would not increase taxation or fees. The bill's $18 billion price tag is paid for by reducing subsidies paid to college loan lenders by around $19 billion.
