(WEST LAFAYETTE) - A lawyer from Zionsville will officially announce his hat being in the ring for the Democratic nomination for US Congress in Indiana’s 4th congressional district, Thursday afternoon.

Nels Ackerson, an alumnus of Purdue University, will kick off his campaign in front of the college's Pfendler Hall at 1:30PM on the 13th.

For not having even started his campaign officially yet, he has already landed a number of well-known endorsements, including naming long-time Hoosier Senator Birch Bayh as his honorary campaign chair.

The 4th district, which stretches from White County in northwest Indiana, around Indy, and as far south as Lawrence County, is currently represented by Republican Steve Buyer.
