(UNDATED) - Two area Indiana congressmen disagree on the report of Gen. David Petraeus to Congress on the status of the “surge” in Iraq.

Congressman Baron Hill, who represents Indiana's 9th district, released a statement yesterday urging Hoosiers to take Gen. Petraeus' report with a grain of salt.

Congressman Hill pointed out inconsistencies in Petraeus' report when compared to those of the Comptroller General of the Government Accountability Office, and from retired marine general James L. Jones, who headed a commission of retired military leaders to examine progress in the war-torn nation.

Monday afternoon, Congressman Steve Buyer also released a statement which priased Gen. Petraeus' report, calling it, "candid and forthright," and taking shots at critics of the surge.

Congressman Hill's 9th district includes Orange and Jackson counties as well as eastern Monroe county; Congressman Buyer's 4th district includes Lawrence county and western Monroe County.
