(NEW CASTLE) - More than 200 people , including a number of elected officials, attended an Advance America property tax repeal rally in New Castle Monday night.
Advance America founder Eric Miller is leading the statewide effort to repeal property taxes with a constitutional amendment.
"We need 51 of the 100 state representatives and we need 26 of the 50 senators," Miller said, "we now have 43 of the 51 votes in the house we need and we have 18 of the 26 votes that we need in the senate."
In addition to talking about how to permanently repeal property taxes, Miller says he will lay out an immediate plan to help taxpayers around Indiana this year. That plan would take the rebate check scheduled for next year and make it a credit this year.
Additional rallies will be held around the state after property tax bills are received.
