State Study To Examine Truck Accidents

(STATEHOUSE) - A legislative study committee is looking for ways to crack down on semis to make sure they abide by Indiana weight limits.
State police and trucking industry lobbyists say about 90% of truck crashes are related to driver issues, not vehicle issues. Drivers either violate traffic rules, are too tired, or collide with car drivers.
American Trucking Association vice-president Dave Osiecki says about three-quarters of truck crashes include another vehicle, and the non-trucker is at fault 55-to-70-percent of the time.
