Statewide Smoking Ban Favored By Lawmakers
(INDIANAPOLIS) - Some Indiana lawmakers are advocating a statewide ban on smoking in most enclosed public places.
Republican Representative Eric Turner of Gas City won House approval of a provision last session that would have prohibited smoking in restaurants, sports arenas and most work places.
At least 60 house members supported the plan, but it was later removed from a bill to help pay for health insurance for thousands of Hoosiers.
23 other states have similar plans in place.
