(INDIANAPOLIS) - Governor Daniels has named the rest of the seven-member commission that will examine whether to abolish some layers of government.
The list includes two former elected officials, former Republican Secretary of State Sue Anne Gilroy and former Democratic State Senator Louis Mahern of Indianapolis.
Also on the commission, John Stafford, a chief of staff to former Republican mayor of Fort Wayne Paul Helmke, former Indiana University president Adam Herbert, and former Lincoln Financial Group CEO Ian Rolland, Chief Justice Randall Shepard and former Democratic Governor Joe Kernan will co-chair the commission, which opens four months of meetings next month.
The panel will make recommendations on whether the state should consolidate or eliminate some government offices, and whether to call a constitutional convention to accomplish it. Most discussion has centered on township offices.
