Microvote General Told To Pay Up For Violations

(INDIANAPOLIS) - A voting machine company is being ordered to pay $350,000 to the state for 198 violations of Indiana election laws.
Indianapolis-based Microvote General provided voting equipment to 47 Indiana counties, including Lawrence County. It came under investigation after allegations that its machines weren't certified by the state.
The Indiana Secretary of State's office says Microvote knew about the problems in April 2006 and didn't inform the Indiana Election Commission until later that summer.
Lawrence County has about 35 Microvote voting machines and is looking to add 47 more before the next election.
