(STATEHOUSE) - Indiana Speaker of the House Pat Bauer applauds Governor Daniels for ordering reassessment for more counties.

But he says a state government office shares in the blame, so the state should pay the bill.

Bauer says more counties need to use the income tax option to ease the property tax burden. So far, six counties have done so.

Bauer has suggested that the state use a cut in welfare and juvenile justice taxes as an incentive for more counties to use the option.

Bauer says if the state and counties work together, this property tax problem can be fixed in the next six months.
