Pence Wants Return Of Fairness Doctrine

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Sixth District Congressman Mike Pence has introduced a bill to ban the return of the broadcasting “fairness doctrine.”
Two Democratic senators have suggested reviving the FCC regulation requiring equal time for opposing viewpoints. That rule was repealed 22 years ago.
Pence is a former Network Indiana talk show host -- he says until the repeal, broadcasters were more likely to avoid controversial topics entirely than to encourage open debate.
