Pence To Block Money To Palestinians

Last updated on Thursday, June 21, 2007

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Indiana Congressman Mike Pence says he’ll try to amend a foreign-aid bill to block 126-million dollars in aid to the Palestinian government.

The U.S is trying to shore up President Mahmoud Abbas's control of the West Bank, following a takeover of the Gaza Strip by the militant Hamas group.

Pence says as long as Hamas controls Gaza, the U.S. can't be confident the money it sends won't end up in terrorist hands.

Pence met with Secretary Of State Condoleezza Rice today.
