Energy Bill Provides Cost Incentives

(WASHINGTON, D-C) - The U.S. Senate has passed an energy bill that focuses on new energy sources and conservation in an effort to reduce the nation’s dependence on foreign oil.
Some of the provisions in the bill that were initiated by Indiana Senator Dick Lugar include incentives for flexible fuel cars and requirements for greater use of ethanol mixed with petroleum fuels.
Lugar says the legislation also would increase auto fuel efficiency standards for the first time in more than 20 years.
