State Organization Gets Sued Over Hiring Minister
(STATEHOUSE) - The Family and Social Services Administration is being sued over its hiring of a chaplain.
The Freedom From Religion Foundation, a group which advocates atheism, says paying a minister $60,000 a year stands in violation of state and national separations of church and state.
The Reverend Michael Latham was hired in March of last year to provide outreach to Indiana chaplains and faith-based community groups. The religion foundation filed the suit on behalf of four Indianapolis members.
