Experiment May Change The Way We Vote

(RICHMOND) - Secretary of State Todd Rokita says he’s pleased with Tuesday’s experiment in Richmond with “vote centers” instead of traditional polling places.
Richmond junked its 31 precincts and set up four locations where any registered voter could cast a ballot. Rokita says it's been a big hit. He says there were no problems, and turnout surpassed 2003 levels by noon.
Wayne County officials say questionnaires issued to voters indicate people liked being able to choose where to vote. They also liked a five-day extension of voting. Voters were allowed to cast ballots at two of the vote centers last Monday through Friday.
