(ELLETTSVILLE) - With a 4-1 vote formalizing the demotion of Ellettsville’s Town Marshal, the town council is now trying to regroup to find his replacement.
Town residents pleaded with council members not to follow through on the demotion of Ron McGlocklin. Democrat Ted Robertson was the only councilman to support keeping McGlocklin.
The council accuses McGlocklin of poor communication and management, and of deliberately destroying radios and computers after the police station flooded five years ago. McGlocklin denies the charges, but reached an agreement with the council not to contest the demotion.
Democrat Philip Rogers joined the council's three republicans in voting to demote McGlocklin. The interim Marshal says he doesn't want the job. Robertson says he's hopeful a sergeant in the eight-member department will apply.
