Plans Announced For Muscatatuck Training Facility

Last updated on Wednesday, April 18, 2007

(NORTH VERNON) - Since the National Guard took control of the old Muscatatuck mental facility in 2005, the military continues finding new ways to use the property.

Gov. Mitch Daniels along with Indiana National Guard Major General R. Martin Umbarger have announced two new plans for the facility.

The first invests $100-million from the U.S. Army, creating what is being called a major training facility for the Army. A second plan is a full-scale Homeland Defense preparedness exercise from May 10 to May 18, much of it at Muscatatuck.
