Governor Signs Selective Service Bill

(STATEHOUSE) - Governor Daniels has placed Indiana in line with 38 other states by signing a bill allowing young men to register for Selective Service at Bureau of Motor Vehicles locations.
Representative David Orentlicher's bill allows men aged 16 to 26 to complete the paperwork while they apply for a driver's license.
Currently, only 77% of eligible men in Indiana are registered for Selective Service, which establishes a pool of people who can be drafted if the U.S. needs to mobilize a large military force.
