(STATEHOUSE) - A bill that would boost the salaries of members of the general assembly and provide regular raises for statewide elected officials passed the House Tuesday.
The measure is on its way to the governor's desk. Under the bill, Indiana senators and representatives who now make a base pay of $11,600 dollars, would earn more than $20,700 dollars in 2009.
It would be the first increase in base pay for members of the general assembly since 1985.
