(UNDATED) - Governor Daniels says he won’t try to revive his proposal for an outer-beltway toll road around Indianapolis, next year or ever.

Daniels' office announced Saturday he'd bow to vocal community opposition and drop his push for a road from Pendleton to the Indianapolis Airport. He'll also largely abandon his call for a toll road from I-94 to Chicago's south suburbs. Both roads would have been privately built and operated.

Daniels says he does believe there's support for a smaller northwest Indiana road, from I-65 west to the Illinois line, but says it'll be up to legislators to give their blessing.
