Officials Push For Legal Video Poker Machines

Last updated on Wednesday, March 21, 2007

(STATEHOUSE) - On the same day a state senate committee approved slot machines for Indiana’s two horse racing tracks, bar owners from around the state came to lobby for a similar cause.

Officials with the Indiana Licensed Beverage Association spent the day trying to persuade lawmakers on both sides of the political aisle to create some legislation that would make video poker machines in bars legal.

The so-called "Cherry Masters" are already in many bars. While bar owners say this would be a great way to bring more revenue to the state, opponents say it makes gambling even more accessible to the public

Despite efforts, so far, the lobby has been unsuccessful.
