Bayh Criticized Over Walter Reed Scandel

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Indiana Senator Evan Bayh had harsh criticism Tuesday over the scandal at Walter Reed Medical Center and its various facilities.
Comparing the Iraq war to Vietnam, Bayh has co-authored legislation to provide better medical care for wounded troops. Bayh says he has visited Walter Reed and while the hospital is in great shape, the rehab centers are in "poor" condition.
Bayh echoed President Bush's comments about it being the nation's "moral obligation" to provide good medical care to wounded troops that come home from Iraq or Afghanistan.
Bayh co-authored the legislation with fellow democrat and presidential hopeful Barack Obama from Illinois and Claire McCaskill of Missouri. The plan calls for more accountability for veterans' hospitals across the nation, along with finding more funding for things like staff training and basic maintenance.
