(STATEHOUSE) - The Indiana Senate has approved a bill which would charge some people who are violent to animals with domestic violence.

Anyone threatening, intimidating, coercing, harassing or terrorizing someone else by threatening harm to an animal could face a domestic violence count.

The bill would allow courts to mandate counseling for anyone charged with such an act and makes some sex crimes with animals Class "D" felonies.
