State Legislators Receiving Raises
(STATEHOUSE) - The Senate has voted 39-9 to give legislators a raise.
The bill would tie legislators' pay to that of judges, a move that would give them a $3,000 raise after next year's election. Legislators haven't gotten a raise in more than 20 years, and Columbia City Republican Gary Dillon says the issue needs to be settled once and for all.
Dillon and leaders of both parties in the House and Senate consulted on the bill, which also scales back controversial and generous pension and health-care packages.
