(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Indiana Democratic Senator Evan Bayh says he has bi-partisan support for a bill that would reduce dependence on Middle Eastern oil and increase jobs for the state.
If enacted, the Drive Act would save 2 1/2 million barrels a day with in 10 years. That is the current rate of consumption the U.S. uses from the Middle East.
Bayh says the bill would provide incentives for auto makers who manufacture fuel efficient cars and incentives for consumers to buy them. The bill would also provide incentives for gas stations to install bio fuel pumps and provide funding for research and development.
