Prayer Reinstated At Both Chambers Of The Statehouse
(STATEHOUSE) - Three weeks after the Indiana House reinstated its opening prayer, the Senate has followed suit.
The Senate is not part of the Civil Liberties Union lawsuit against the House, but then-President Pro Tem Robert Garton (R-Columbus) replaced the Senate's opening prayer last year with a moment of silence after U.S. District Judge David Hamilton issued his order barring specifically Christian prayer.
New President Pro Tem David Long says Garton's action was a form of protest against the ruling, but says it's time to resume open prayer.
